BRAIN DYNAMICS: TEAM MEMBERS
Mr. Kelly R. Bennett, BS, MS, PhD
Dr. Bennett was born and raised in Los Angeles. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Astronautical Engineering (UCLA, 1958), a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology (CSULA, 1967), and a Doctor of Philosophy in Developmental Psychology and Learning Disorders (UCLA, 1971). He also attended Princeton Theological Seminary and Hebrew Union Seminary for in-depth Biblical and Language Studies (1962-4), as well as other Universities. His academic teaching experience has been at the graduate and undergraduate levels in both American and Australian Universities. Board registration for psychological consulting is currently held in two States of America (California and New Mexico) and one State of Australia (New South Wales).
He originally trained as an Astronautical Engineer. His first professional position was with Douglas Aircraft Company in Santa Monica, as an Advance Design Engineer (1958). The focus was on designs of exotic space systems 25 years into the future, both military and commercial. Traveling was extensive, and he was asked to represent his company as a scientific advisor to the House of Representatives, Washington, D.C.
Finding himself more interested in the complex dynamics of people rather than things, he trained in Clinical and Developmental Psychology, and in 1971 created a broad-based family counseling private practice in Palos Verdes, and later, San Diego, California. He offered community-based self-development courses through local churches, along with teaching at California State University, while performing some corporate consulting. He also managed a business in psychological test development (Life Themes International).
In early 1986, he migrated to Australia. During his 12 years in Sydney, he was known as a people strategist and suitability specialist, consulting in Australia, Fiji, and China with over 75 business organizations and government agencies, including the Australian Department of Defense and the New South Wales Premier’s Office.
While teaching “Assessment in Counseling” for graduate students at Southwestern College, he wrote his most recent book, Too Much, Too Little, Just Right, which shares the wisdom of his counseling years on how to stay out of extremes, to keep a balance in life, and to empower the imagination in personal development.
A professional counselor for 40 years, he carries on a consulting practice and
administers Brain Dynamics in Santa Fe, New Mexico, with three partners.
